Choosing yourself is not selfish. Women spend so much of their lives taking care of everyone around them that they sometimes forget to care for themselves.
We give our time, energy, love, and knowledge. Sometimes, we even give parts of ourselves that we have not had time to restore.
But there comes a point when we must accept that choosing ourselves is necessary—not selfish.Women spend so much of their lives taking care of everyone around them.
Taking care of yourself is not selfish.
Continuing your education is not selfish. Wanting more for yourself and your family is not selfish. Choosing growth, accepting new opportunities, and creating a better future are not selfish.
You Cannot Keep Pouring From an Empty Cup
We cannot keep pouring from an empty cup and expect to feel strong, happy, and whole.
We must take care of ourselves. We must continue learning and growing. We must build strength in our minds, bodies, careers, and faith.
Doing these things does not mean we care less about the people we love. It helps us continue caring for them without losing ourselves in the process.
Opportunities Require Preparation
I am grateful for every opportunity that has come my way. But I also know those opportunities did not come without preparation.
I worked for them.
I educated myself, gained experience, stayed dedicated, and kept moving forward through seasons that could have easily made me quit.
I faced challenges. I made hard decisions. I continued showing up, even when no one saw how much it took.
An opportunity may be placed in front of you, but you still have to be brave enough to take it.
Sometimes, an opportunity will not look exactly like you expected. But it may be exactly what you need to reach the life you truly want.
What You Need May Not Be What You Want
This is the same lesson I share with the women I coach.
Sometimes, what you need is not what you want in the moment. It may feel uncomfortable or even scary. But it could be the very thing that makes you stronger.
Growth rarely shows up wrapped in a pretty bow. Sometimes, it shows up wearing work boots and carrying a lesson you did not ask for.
But that lesson may help you become the woman you are working to be.
Women Need Space for Honest Conversations
I believe women should be able to speak openly, share their experiences, and offer their perspectives.
Not every opinion is criticism. Sharing how I see something does not mean I am trying to control another woman’s decisions.
I can only speak from who I am, what I have experienced, and what I have learned.
A real conversation leaves room for different opinions. We do not have to agree with everything we hear. But we can listen without dismissing each other.
Sometimes, another woman’s point of view gives us something useful. Other times, it helps us understand what does not fit our path.
Either way, there is something to learn.
Women Supporting Women Must Be More Than a Saying
Every woman brings something different to the table. That is not a weakness. It is our strength.
Imagine what we could accomplish if we stopped competing, criticizing, and cutting one another down.
Imagine what could happen if we started listening, discussing, problem-solving, and truly lifting one another up.
Supporting women cannot be something we only say. We have to live it.
We must make room for each other’s voices. We must respect our differences and understand that trying to help does not mean we believe we know everything.
No One Else Gets to Define You
No one else gets to define who you are or take credit for the woman you have become.
You are shaped by your decisions, resilience, faith, willingness to learn, and choice to keep moving forward.
I listen. I learn. I forgive.
I do not have to hold a grudge to remember a lesson. I take what I experience, allow it to strengthen me, and use it to move to the next level.
My path is my path, and I will continue walking it with purpose.
Keep Moving Forward With Strength and Faith
I do not need validation from anyone.
God knows my heart, sacrifices, intentions, and the work I have put in—and I know it too.
I am grateful.
I am prepared.
I am ready.
I will continue moving forward with purpose, strength, and faith.
This next chapter was placed in front of me because I prepared myself to recognize it, step into it, and make the most of it.
A Reminder for Every Woman Who Needs It
If you are questioning whether it is too late, it is not.
Keep learning.
Keep growing.
Keep believing.
Keep choosing yourself.
Listen to others, but never lose your own voice.
Your life, your reactions, your decisions, and the direction you choose belong to you.
And choosing yourself is not selfish.
